Known for the legendary Tropical Warehouse Parties in East London, Hugo Mendez aka Sofrito has been an integral part of the scene for the past 15 years - bringing overlooked styles and rhythms into record boxes and onto dancefloors across the world.

The Sofrito parties are currently in their 13th year and continue to pack out clubs and warehouses in London - and the party will soon be spilling out into the hot hubs of the region, with highly-anticipated shows in The Music Room (Hong Kong), Fono (Kuala Lumpur), Tropika (Singapore) and Studio Lam (Bangkok). Whether in dancing shoes or blissfully barefoot, we’re more than ready for what’s to come this August!

He spins everything from raw Caribbean carnival rhythms to the bass-heavy North London garage of his youth by way of undercover Congolese soukous, reggae experiments, classic Haitian Compas and afro disco missiles.
Equally influenced by his immersion in the clubs of 90s London and with the years spent crate-digging and learning of the music scenes’ origins across the Caribbean, Sofrito draws from a wide variety of styles and eras.
