Music unites people in all corners of the world, and Jazz is a highly celebrated key to the comprehension of music. MAMA JAZ began its celebration on April 1 with the ongoing ‘Magic Minute’ followed by other online festivities. On 30th April, International Jazz Day happens annually around the world. Championed by The Herbie Hancock Institute for Jazz, UNESCO, and other global supporters, MAMA JAZ has been a proud organisational partner since 2018. This year marks the date with the release of a Happy Jazz Day Special from its NEPETALAKTON Podcast series on the 30th of April held alongside electrocaïne.

MAMA JAZ is an adventure in musical culture within the challenging Mauritian context. The initiative was born out of a desire to celebrate Jazz and has evolved to broaden its soundscape towards becoming a World Music and Jazz Month. This year, the annual jazz festival adapts to the changing times and continue their evolution to reach a wider audience via online platforms.
